The Autobox is building a second Scottsdale Airpark garage-condo development — 15 deeded units, opening 2027
The Autobox is a luxury garage-condo developer in the Scottsdale Airpark. Its first project, Scottsdale Airpark North at 15032 N 74th St, finished in 2020 and is sold out. The second, at 14805 N 73rd St, adds 15 units from roughly 1,400 to 3,700 square feet with 22-foot ceilings, plus a 1,400-square-foot owners’ clubhouse. Demolition started the week of August 24, 2026; completion is targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
You buy the unit outright with a deed, the same as a condo. That’s the difference between The Autobox and the membership and rental car-storage operations a few blocks away.
I drove past the 73rd Street site last week and saw the demo crews on the old building, which is what sent me down this rabbit hole. If you’ve spent any time in the Airpark lately you’ve noticed the pattern: private car garages are going up faster than office space. The Autobox got there early — its first building opened in 2020 — and the second one is the clearest sign yet that Scottsdale’s collector-car market has outgrown the home garage.
What The Autobox Actually Is
The Autobox is a garage condominium. Each unit is individually deeded real estate — you own it, you can finance it, you can sell it, and you pay Maricopa County property tax on it. It is not a storage rental and it is not a membership club. Developer David Peterson of Brick Street Development LLC built the concept around one idea: a garage that feels like an extension of your house rather than a warehouse bay.
That shows up in the spec sheet. The original Airpark North building delivered every unit with drywall-finished walls, spiral HVAC ductwork, seamless epoxy floors, 19-foot clear ceilings, structural concrete floors rated for large lifts, and individually metered 100-amp three-phase electrical service. Owners added mezzanines, cabinetry, bathrooms and lounges on top of that. The whole property is gated with 24/7 access and a shared clubhouse for car-club meetings and events.

Why the Location Matters
Both Autobox buildings sit in the Scottsdale Airpark between Scottsdale Road and the 101, a few blocks apart. The original is about half a mile from Scottsdale Airport’s terminal at 15000 N Airport Dr, which is exactly who this is for: people who fly in, drive out. Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter are walkable, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and the Loop 101 are two minutes away, and WestWorld — home of Barrett-Jackson every January — is about ten minutes up the road.
The Airpark has quietly become the Valley’s collector-car district. Within a mile of The Autobox you’ll find OTTO Car Club, The Vault of Scottsdale, Toy Barn’s Scottsdale building, Scottsdale Sport, and Rolling Art Motorsports. Nobody planned that. It happened because the Airpark’s industrial zoning allows high-bay buildings, and because the people who buy $300,000 cars in January at Barrett-Jackson need somewhere to keep them in July.
⚡ AZ INSIDER TIP
Climate control isn’t a luxury here. A Scottsdale garage that isn’t conditioned hits 130°F-plus in August. That cooks tires, kills batteries, and turns leather interiors chalky in one summer. Every serious storage option in the Airpark is air-conditioned for that reason, and it’s why a bare warehouse bay off Hayden Road is not the same product even when the square footage matches.
Own, Join, or Rent: How The Autobox Compares
The Autobox is one of three different products people lump together as “luxury car storage in Scottsdale.” They are not interchangeable, and the right one depends on whether you want an asset, a social club, or a parking space.
| Facility | Model | Address | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Autobox | Own — deeded condo | 15032 N 74th St (sold out) · 14805 N 73rd St (2027) | Only 15 units in the new phase; original sold out |
| Toy Barn Scottsdale Airpark | Own — deeded condo | 7800 E Greenway Rd | Google reviews split on value; the Cave Creek location hosts a 4th-Saturday Cars & Coffee |
| OTTO Car Club & Storage | Membership + storage | 15550 N 78th St | 4.7★ (55); strongest event calendar; on-site car wash; closed Sun–Mon |
| The Vault of Scottsdale | Storage + event venue | 15882 N 77th St | 4.8★ (75); doubles as a corporate event space; weekday hours only |
| Scottsdale Sport | Storage + sales/detail | 7671 E Acoma Dr | 5.0★ (9); exotic-focused, small operation, battery tenders included |
| Rolling Art Motorsports | Storage + body/paint | 7861 E Gray Rd | 4.6★ (40); reviews strong on storage and detail, mixed on collision repair |
Two more are on the way: Elite Garages Scottsdale has announced 32 privately owned units, and the Collector’s Garage at WestWorld has been reported by ABC15 for north Scottsdale. Neither has a completed building yet, so I haven’t put them in the table.
✅ Who The Autobox is right for
You have three or more vehicles you’re keeping long-term, you want to work on them yourself with a lift, and you’d rather build equity than pay a membership. It also suits Airpark business owners who want a conditioned workshop or showroom with a deed behind it.
⚠️ Who it isn’t for
Snowbirds storing one car for six months, anyone who wants staff to handle the car, and anyone who wants the social side without the mortgage. That’s OTTO or The Vault. And check the CC&Rs before you buy any garage condo in the Airpark — associations typically prohibit living in the unit and restrict running a commercial repair business out of it.
What Garage-Condo Ownership Means in Arizona
- It’s real property. You get a recorded deed, it shows up on the Maricopa County Assessor’s rolls, and it’s taxed as commercial/industrial property. You can sell it, will it, or lease it out subject to the association’s rules.
- Financing exists but it’s narrower. Some Arizona banks and credit unions will lend on garage condos; many national lenders won’t. Expect a larger down payment than a residential condo and plan for cash if you want a smooth close.
- HOA dues cover the shared stuff. Gates, clubhouse, exterior maintenance, common-area insurance. Your unit’s interior, your lift, your electrical upgrades are yours.
- Resale has been strong. The original Autobox sold out and the developer is building a second phase — that’s the market telling you what Airpark garage condos are worth. There is no MLS category for “used garage condo,” so resales tend to move through the association and word of mouth.
- Insure it separately. The association’s policy covers the building shell. Your cars inside need agreed-value collector coverage that lists the storage address, and the unit’s contents need their own policy.
The Autobox FAQ
Where is the new Autobox in Scottsdale?
14805 N 73rd St, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, in the Scottsdale Airpark — a couple of blocks south of the original building at 15032 N 74th St and just off Butherus Drive.
When does it open?
Completion is targeted for the second quarter of 2027, per the Phoenix Business Journal. Demolition of the existing building began the week of August 24, 2026, and the developer is taking reservations now.
How much does an Autobox unit cost?
The Autobox doesn’t publish pricing. Units are sold as real estate directly through the developer at 480-485-5957. Expect pricing to scale with square footage — the new phase runs roughly 1,400 to 3,700 square feet.
Is The Autobox a car club?
No. It’s owned garages with a shared clubhouse. Owners can host car-club meetings there, but there’s no membership tier and no staff storing cars for you. OTTO Car Club, a few blocks away on 78th Street, is the membership model.
Can I live in a garage condo?
Not in the Airpark. The zoning is industrial and garage-condo CC&Rs typically prohibit overnight residential use. Bathrooms, lounges and mezzanine offices are fine; a bed is not.
Why are so many car garages being built in Scottsdale?
Arizona Auction Week every January (Barrett-Jackson at WestWorld plus the other houses) brings thousands of collector cars and buyers to Scottsdale, many of whom live here part of the year. Add 110°F summers that make unconditioned storage a non-starter, and demand for climate-controlled garage space outruns supply.
