Is Din Tai Fung open in Scottsdale?
Yes. Din Tai Fung Scottsdale is open on the lower level of Scottsdale Fashion Square, 7014 E Camelback Rd, Suite 608. It is Arizona’s first Din Tai Fung. It soft-opened March 12, 2026 and held its grand opening on April 20, 2026.
Reservations run through Yelp, walk-ins join a Yelp waitlist, the bar is first come first served, and takeout and delivery are both available. Phone: (480) 256-8683.
Hours are from the restaurant’s own listing as of September 2026. Note that the FAQ further down the same official page says “11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily,” so if a 10:30 arrival matters to you, call first.
How to get a reservation at Din Tai Fung Scottsdale
Din Tai Fung Scottsdale takes reservations only through Yelp. The “Reserve” button on the official Scottsdale page sends you straight to the Yelp booking screen. There is no OpenTable or Resy listing, and anyone selling a reservation is not doing it with the restaurant’s blessing.
- New slots drop on a rolling basis. The restaurant told ABC15 it releases new reservations regularly. Diners report the best luck checking late at night and again first thing in the morning, when cancellations shake loose.
- Small parties and odd times win. A table for two at 2:30 PM on a Tuesday is far easier than six people at 7 PM on Saturday.
- Arrive complete. Your whole party has to be present to be seated.
Can you walk in without a reservation?
Yes. Walk-ins have been accepted since the April 20 grand opening. You join a waitlist, either on the Yelp app before you leave home or at the host stand, and the restaurant contacts you when your table is close.

Treat the waitlist like a tee time. Put your name in on Yelp from the house, then drive over. From the 101, take Chaparral Road and come in on Goldwater Boulevard instead of fighting Camelback and Scottsdale Road, which is the restaurant’s own advice and it is good. Park in the Brown Garage and you are a short, air-conditioned walk from the door. In July that matters more than the dumplings.

What does dinner for two cost? Diners who have posted their receipts report about $100 to $120 before tip for two people sharing six or seven dishes, often with leftovers. The full current menu is on dtf.com.
What to order on your first visit
Din Tai Fung is built for sharing. Plan on two to three dishes per person, order in rounds, and start with the soup dumplings while they are hottest. These are the dishes Scottsdale diners mention again and again in reviews:
- Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao. The signature. It is the most-liked item on the Scottsdale delivery menu.
- Cucumber Salad. Cold, garlicky, a little spicy. Nearly every table has one.
- Shrimp & Pork Spicy Wontons. The sauce is the point. Save it for your noodles or rice.
- String Beans with Garlic. The sleeper hit, 96% liked on DoorDash.
- Pork Chop Fried Rice or Fried Noodles to fill the table out.
- Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. Dessert dumplings. Order them.
Vegetarian? The restaurant confirms Vegetable & Mushroom Xiao Long Bao, Cucumber Salad and select noodle and rice dishes. For allergies or gluten questions, ask your server; the kitchen handles a lot of wheat, soy, sesame and shellfish.
How to eat a soup dumpling without burning your mouth
- Mix your sauce: one part soy sauce to three parts vinegar, over the fresh ginger.
- Lift the dumpling gently by its top knot and dip it.
- Set it on your spoon and poke the skin with a chopstick to release the broth.
- Sip the broth, add a few strands of ginger, then eat the rest in one bite.
Where to park and how to find it
Din Tai Fung is on the lower level of Scottsdale Fashion Square, in the luxury dining corridor off the Nordstrom wing. The entrance is a curved façade with glowing red signage, so you will not miss it once you are on the right floor.
- Closest parking: the Brown Garage, per the restaurant. Parking at Fashion Square is free.
- Valet: West Valet, off Goldwater Boulevard.
- From the Loop 101: exit Chaparral Road and approach on Goldwater Boulevard.

Inside the restaurant
Rockwell Group designed the 10,000-square-foot space in gold, cream and warm wood. The main dining room is anchored by a large tree installation rising over velvet and leather banquettes, the bar is lit by lanterns, and a glass-walled dumpling kitchen lets you watch the cooks fold each xiao long bao. Tripadvisor reviewers describe the room as calm and easy to talk in, which is not a given for a 340-seat restaurant in a mall.
Why people line up for it
Bing-Yi Yang and his wife Pen-Mei Lai opened Din Tai Fung in Taipei in 1958 as a cooking oil shop. When oil sales slipped they gave half the store over to soup dumplings, and by 1972 it was a full restaurant. The New York Times named it one of ten “Top-Notch Tables” in the world in 1993, the first North American location opened in Arcadia, California in 2000, and two Hong Kong branches earned Michelin stars in 2010. The company’s rule that every dumpling gets exactly 18 folds is, in the words of North America CEO Aaron Yang to the Michelin Guide, about giving the filling and soup room to expand as it steams.

Is there a Din Tai Fung in Phoenix, Chandler or Tempe?
Scottsdale Fashion Square is the only Din Tai Fung in Arizona today. There is no Phoenix or Tempe location. A second Arizona restaurant is planned for Chandler Fashion Center, on the first level next to Harkins Theatres, with a 2027 opening reported by ABC15. How long is the wait at Din Tai Fung Scottsdale?
It depends heavily on when you go. ABC15 reported average waitlist times of 2 to 3 hours in April 2026. Diners since then report 30 minutes to 2 hours at peak dinner times and little to no wait on weekdays between 2 and 4 PM. Joining the Yelp waitlist before you leave home shortens the time you spend standing around.
When did Din Tai Fung open in Scottsdale?
The reservation-only soft opening began March 12, 2026, and the grand opening, with walk-ins, takeout and delivery, was April 20, 2026. The project first surfaced in August 2024 on an earnings call by Macerich, which owns Scottsdale Fashion Square.
Does Din Tai Fung Scottsdale have a Michelin star?
No. Michelin stars are awarded to individual restaurants, and the Scottsdale location does not hold one. Two Din Tai Fung branches in Hong Kong earned one star each in 2010, and the Xinyi store in Taipei holds a Bib Gourmand.
Is there a dress code?
We could not find a published dress code. The room is upscale casual, and you will see everything from golf polos to date-night outfits. It is a mall, and it is Scottsdale; both are true at once.
Does Din Tai Fung Scottsdale do takeout and delivery?
Yes to both. Order pickup at order.dtf.com or by calling (480) 256-8683, or get delivery through DoorDash or Uber Eats. The restaurant itself points out that soup dumplings are best eaten right away, so takeout works best if you live close to Fashion Square.
